Whoohoow, my first post about travel! ♡
This summer my boyfriend and I decided to visit Ibiza – Spain. Everybody was talking about how beautiful and amazing the island is, so I had to discover it myself. ♡ So, we went to a few travel agencies to book our holiday!
On August 27th we were ready to leave, how cool was it that we flew with the “tomorrowland-plane”? 😮
We booked a 7 night stay in the Iberostar Hotel Santa Eulalia. It is an adults only hotel, so you can be sure of a 100% relaxing stay. The hotel is recently renovated and has a direct beach access. There are 229 rooms, that are a lot of rooms I know, but everybody is so friendly and quiet! You think you’re alone in the hotel, just perfect to enjoy a peaceful stay!
My boyfriend and I booked a double room with seaview. Oh, what a cosy yet modern room, with beautiful blue details! #holidaymodeON !
We heard at the hotel it was possible to book Star Prestige, so we booked a Star Prestige room for our last two nights. What is Star Prestige? It means you have a (nicer) room at the fifth floor and you have acces to the rooftop where you can find an open bar, sun deck, pool and off course a stunning view! It was like a dream! ♡
So, we spend our last day by the pool at the rooftop. Here are some pictures.
So, if you’re looking for a nice hotel in Ibiza, where it is relaxing and beautiful to stay, Iberostar Santa Eulalia is TOP. It is located at +- 30km from the airport, but you don’t have any noise from planes and party animals! 😀 We enjoyed our stay from the beginning until the end!
But hey, let’s not talk about the end of my vacation please! My boyfriend and I are not people who like to stay in the hotel the whole week, so we needed something to guarantee our “freedom” during our stay. That’s why we hired a car. We did that in advance at the travel agency at home.
We hired a car with Sunny Cars – Europcar. What a fabulous service! So, my tip: if you want to hire a car, do it with Sunny Cars! You won’t be disappointed! Because I wanted a fancy car, not too big and off course with an open roof, we hired a Fiat 500 Cabrio. Check it out below!
What a cutie, right? ♡ It was so much fun to drive it and so easy to park it everywhere. Another tip: Ibiza has a lot of sandy roads, so if you want to make a little safari trip to discover lots of beautiful hidden spots: rent a jeep! 🙂
Talking about “hidden” spots … you need to visit Atlantis! This was not on our “to do – planning”, but an evening in the hotel we were googling what else there is you absolutely need to see in Ibiza. And that’s how we fell in love with Atlantis. ♡ Atlantis is actually a little “pool” formed by nature, incredibly beautiful! I have no words, BUT be very aware that before you can reach Atlantis you have a spicy ride to do. And no, not by car; but by foot and it goes down and down and down. Kinda scary and heavy, but it is ab-so-lu-tely worth it! You need to count a little hour to hike all the way down! PLEASE TAKE A BOTTLE OF WATER WITH YOU! We forgot … and regretted it very quickly, just so you know! #oops 😀
Fell in love? Let me tell you how to get there … You have to follow the road to San Joseph. When you arrive in San Joseph, you have to follow the direction of Cala D’hort. You follow a long long road, until you bump into a T-section and just in front of that T-section, there is a little dusty road. At that point, you need to go left and than the second on the right. You will notice parked cars and yes, that’s where you need to leave your car. You continue by foot. You have to walk towards the sea and you will bump into a stone made roundabout. From there on you have to go down and down and down until you reach Atlantis. Enjoy! ♡
Another beautiful place you can visit in Ibiza is Amante Beach, which is very romantic and beautiful to lunch/dine. It is a little bit more expensive than in the city, but off course it’s a beach club with an amazing view. What do I mean by “a bit more expensive”? If you want to eat an hamburger with french fries, you pay around 25 euros and for a cocktail you have to count around 15 euros. But, that’s kinda okay for a beach club in Ibiza!! It’s really worth the visit. ♡ And don’t worry: you can also visit Amante Beach for an afternoon drink in the sun. Perfect relax location! And if you get too hot, you can take the stairs to the sea and go for a swim or just use the outdoor shower.
Amante Beach is located at the following address: Cala Sol Den Serra (Cala Llonga), 07849 Santa Eulalia des Riu, Ibiza. It’s best to make a reservation in advance.
HIDDEN PLACE – PUNTA DES FORN
Punta des Forn is a hidden place a lot of people don’t know. My boyfriend and I were looking for some “hidden” beaches/places, which was not easy. BUT … We found a little place I really want to share with you. Read on under the picture …
Because we were there all alone, maybe not a lot of people know how to get there? Let me share my little secret with you … ♡ You follow the road to Cala San Vincent. You will bump into a parking space, but you can continue by car so you don’t have to park there. Behind the parking space, there is a road on the left that you have to follow. You follow that road until you have a big white building on the right. In front of that building there is a little parking space where you can park your car. From there on, you have to go by foot. When you have the big white building in front of you, you walk to the left until you arrive at a Y-section. There you have to take the road on the left (the one that goes down). If you follow that road you will see an abandoned hotel. You have to walk aside of the hotel on the left. You follow a little path until you see rocky stairs. Just follow the stairs and you’ll arrive at the hidden place! Enjoy the view! ♡
NORTH: SAN VINCENT + XARRACA
Ibiza is a very populair – read: crowded – island during high season. So, a lot of beaches are almost full by 10 – 11 in the morning. So, if you’re not so into those busy overcrowded beaches, one tip: GO TO THE NORTH ! We visited two cosy beaches in the North of the island: Cala San Vincent and Cala Xarraca.
Cala San Vincent
Cala San Vincent is a little beach in the North of Ibiza and offers a curve of golden sand with clear waters, backed by a promenade. There are a lot of little bars and restaurants along the promenade.
Another beautiful beach is Cala Xarraca, also located in the North and therefore a bit less overcrowded. The crystal clear water is perfect for snorkelers and photographers. When we arrived there, there were already some people who claimed their place on the beach. But, we saw there was a way to hike along the rocks and find a deserted little spot to enjoy our afternoon all alone. Just watch and see …
If you say Ibiza, you say Es Vedra. If you’re in Ibiza, you just cannot skip a view on Es Vedra. It’s like visiting Paris without stopping by the Eiffeltower, just not possible! For those who don’t know: Es Vedra is a rocky, uninhabited island and has a height of 400 meters. According to many, it has a strong magnetic field due to the presence of a big amount of metals. They even say it is the third most magical place in the world (the Bermuda triangle and the North Pole would be stronger). We visited Es Vedra by sunset, it was so beautiful. But … I don’t want to ruin the “mythe”, but I didn’t feel any more magic than somewhere else. Anyhow, it was a very beautiful moment during our stay in Ibiza, I also did a wish … #youneverknowright? 😀
Ibiza stands for a hippy culture. So a visit to a Hippy Market can not be missed. So, at our hotel we heard that the most beautiful and biggest Hippy Market was located not so far away from the hotel and was only open on Wednesdays (from April to October). So, Wednesday August 30th, we visited the Hippy Market in the morning. There were more than 500 artist offering a variety of lots of handmade and such unique creations. I can describe the Hippy Market as a typical Ibiza charm!
When you visit Ibiza, you must also take a trip to Formentera. We just went one day and to be honest, that was too short. So, if you have the possibility … stay longer than a day! Close to our hotel in Ibiza we took the ferry to Formentera. They said it would take a little hour to get there, but it took us much longer than that because the ferry stopped a lot to pick up other tourists. We took the ferry at 9 O’clock in the morning and arrived in Formentera around 11 O’clock.
When we arrived in Formentera we hired a Vespa. I saw a yellow one, how cool was that? But it was already taken! 😦 So, I was happy with a red one to! 😀 Actually we wanted to hire a quad, but with quads you have no access to the beach (parkings).
With our little Vespa we toured around the island, that was so much fun! We drove from beach to beach. We visited two beaches (like I said: one day is not long enough!). The first one was Playa de ses Illetes. The water was crystal clear, so beautiful BUT it was very very busy at the beach. It was even hard to find a beautiful spot to lie down! But, on the other side of the beach, there was no one because on that side the sea was to wild it wasn’t possible to take a swim. 😦 So, we stayed there for a little hour before we went looking for another beautiful – less crowded – beach. But first let me show you some pictures from Playa de ses Illetes.
The second beach we visited was Playa de Migjorn. It was a lot less crowded there, amazing! This beach is much more relaxing and my personal favorite! The most people are a bit older (30 – 60), which made it really relaxing. Next to the beach there are also a lot of rocks and footpaths, kinda the place to be to take beautiful pictures. 😉
Last but surely not least is Dalt Villa – the old town of Ibiza. This little city really gave me goosebumps, it was so beautiful. ♡ Those typical little Spanish houses are so cosy! There are a lot of cute restaurants and shops so you can stay there the whole day. Also if you want to spot planes arriving in Ibiza, Dalt Villa is the place to be! 😀 Just check out some pictures below and discover the adorable Dalt Villa. ♡
That was a long blogpost. I hope you enjoyed it. Anyway, thank you so much for reading! That means a lot! ♡
If you still have 7 minutes left, check out the movie I made about our stay in Ibiza.
